Flexible printed circuit board.
Also known as flex circuits, flexi-circuits, flex print, and flex PCB, are a
group of interconnection and electronic solutions. It consists of a very thin
insulating polymer-film that has conductive circuit patterns. These printed
circuit patterns are affixed on the film and covered with a thin coating of
polymer so as to protect the circuits.
As it is lighter than traditional PCB flexible and is smaller in size, it offers the following benefits:
- Where traditional PCBs need a given space to be mounted upon, flexible PCB can fit into nooks and crannies, offering greater wiring solutions.
- PCB flexible is lightweight and thin, and is still more durable as compared to traditional ones.3-D packaging geometry.
- Flexible PCBs are resistant to vibration as well as shock, and can withstand more dynamic than traditional PCBs.
- It is a miniaturized version of the existing technology.
- Flexible PCB requires lower numbers of device interconnections.
